Fractality

Platform: FlashDevelop (AS3.0)

Credits: Guilherme Stutz Töws (game), Anna Anthropy (parts of the font)

A game made in 48 hours for the Ludum Dare competition. A platformer that experiments with recursive level design.

Left and right to move, up to jump. R to restart from last checkpoint.

Pretty cool for what it is, but there’s a major collision bug: if you jump into the corner or the very edge of a wall, you can basically “climb” it by pressing the jump key over and over. I did this to get to the crown on the very first screen, without even going through the entire game.

Also, if you press R the first time you play it, your character will disappear because you haven’t touched a checkpoint yet.

Actually, it seems this only happens on the left corners of a block. Still, you start the game on the left of the final screen…

Ultra-small blocks- that is, blocks that are rendered smaller than 8×8- have a lot of collision problems in general, especially if the character is much larger than them. Sometimes, you can just jump right through them!
